The UK’s Top 7 Pool Dining Tables : Reviews & Buying Guide

The biggest concern when it comes to buying a pool table is space. We don’t all have the space to house a full-size pool table, or if we do, we have to make sacrifices along the way. Before recently, to fit a pool table in your home, you would often need to choose between that and other furniture, such as a dining table. Thankfully, the best table manufacturers in the world spotted this problem, and they solved it. The pool dining table was invented to give users the best of both worlds, and it does a great job.

We’re not talking about just slipping a few chairs under your pool table and calling it a dining area. We’re talking about specially-designed and purpose-built tables that transition seamlessly from a full pool table to an elegant dining table in just seconds. They tend to have slimmer bodies to accommodate chairs and may have some modified features.  As with any great invention, many manufacturers have taken it upon themselves to make a version of their own. That’s where we come in. We have created this guide of the top 7 pool dining tables, demonstrating the very best available on the market. We’ve separated the good, the bad, and the ugly to present you with the most features and top value for money. Keep reading to find out more!

Buyers Guide

size

The tables are available in 6ft, 7ft and 8ft, and before making any purchase, you should measure your room and ensure that you have enough space. You don’t just need to consider the size of the table itself but also the area for the cues and easy movement. Getting this wrong could result in the pool table being completely unplayable. Use our pool table size guide to get started.

legroom

You may be thinking that it would be cheaper to buy a topper for your existing pool table and create your own pool dining table, but it’s not that simple. Standard pool tables are not designed with enough space underneath for chairs and legs, whereas pool dining tables are manufactured with this in mind. They are slimmer and substantially more comfortable to sit at than a standard pool table. Before you buy a table, be sure to check the legroom dimensions, especially for the tall members of the family.

Slate vs MDF

It is no secret that a slate bed is the premium playing surface on home pool tables. It helps the balls to move most naturally and allows for precision and professional play. Slate is always the preference but can also add a lot to the price tag. MDF is still perfectly usable, and a beginner probably wouldn’t notice the difference. If you’re an avid pool player, though, you would. If slate isn’t in the budget, be on the lookout for the highest quality MDF options instead.
